London, May 13th, 2026 - Legion BioSolutions Limited and Massive Bioinformatics are pleased to announce that they have signed an exclusive strategic collaboration agreement. Under the agreement, Legion BioSolutions will be responsible for the promotion, distribution, and regional support of Massive Bioinformatics' own branded products across the Middle East.
The partnership covers Massive Bioinformatics' flagship solutions, including its microbiome analysis software MassBiome®, and the company's wider portfolio of advanced bioinformatics software tools. By combining Massive Bioinformatics' cutting-edge technologies with Legion BioSolutions' decades of domain expertise alongside deep capabilities in cloud-native deployment, data-sovereignty architecture, informatics analysis, and pragmatic data management, the two companies aim to accelerate the adoption of next-generation bioinformatics solutions throughout the region.
MassBiome® is a clinical decision support software platform for in-house gut microbiome analysis, built on Oxford Nanopore Technologies long-read sequencing. The platform sequences the full-length 16S rDNA gene (V1–V9, ~1500 bp), achieving species-level taxonomic resolution that short-read methods cannot reach at the genus level. Its automated bioinformatics pipeline produces multi-layered reports covering bacterial species and abundance, alpha and beta diversity, F/B ratio, enterotype, functional groups, potentially harmful bacteria, probiotic strain profiling, and the microbiome's capacity to contribute to vitamin metabolism. MassBiome® also generates similarity scores against disease-associated microbiome profiles for 20+ health conditions and provides personalized nutritional guidance for physician interpretation. Mycobiome (ITS) analysis is on the product roadmap1.
Legion BioSolutions's platform-agnostic approach means it serves as an independent deployment and data governance partner. For Massive Bioinformatics, this translates into established institutional relationships, regional regulatory expertise, and the technical infrastructure to integrate microbiome data workflows into complex, multi-modal laboratory environments. By combining MassBiome®'s species-level gut microbiome analysis with Legion BioSolutions' regional infrastructure, and their experience gained working with Oxford Nanopore’s global ecosystem, the collaboration aims to make on-premises microbiome workflows accessible alongside existing genomic and proteomic programmes - with patient data remaining inside the institution.
